Going out in Bordeaux: the must-see places

Welcome to the enchanting world of Bordeaux! Immerse yourself in the cultural, gastronomic and historical vibrancy of this emblematic city in south-west France. If you're in Bordeaux to visit properties offered for sale by our agency, we'll also be able to point out the city's picturesque lanes and emblematic monuments - your ideal future living environment!

The Chartrons:

Let's start with the famous Chartrons district! Here you'll find a plethora of wine bars (promising unforgettable evenings) around the lively Place du Marché, a stone's throw from the church of St-Louis des Chartrons. Close to our agency and the Jardin Public, this area offers a very pleasant living environment. The quays of the Garonne, part of which run alongside this district, are also full of restaurants and wine bars offering gourmet delights by the river. With its picturesque, colorful shops, charming residential streets and good transport links, the Chartrons district is an ideal place to settle in Bordeaux. When it comes to culture, the area has no shortage of resources. For those with a passion for art and creativity, the CAPC museum is a sanctuary where you can experience moments of admiration and, why not, artistic inspiration!

The Triangle:

One of the city's most chic districts, the Triangle, located between the alleys of Tourny, Cours de l'Intendance and Cours Georges Clemenceau, embodies the very essence of city life, with transport links and shops close by. Discover the magic of the Place des Grands Hommes, the heart of the district and a must for Bordeaux residents at the end of the day. With its 18-19th century architecture and attractive shops, this square is the perfect place to relax over a drink or a meal. Not far away are the alleys of Tourny and the Cours de l'Intendance, if you fancy a stroll to explore the surrounding area. The Triangle also boasts a host of cultural attractions, including a magnificent cinema housed in an old theatre built in the 19th century, the Trianon Theatre, the Cours Mably, and the Opera on the legendary Place de la Comédie. Temporay exhibitions and cultural events of all kinds (sculptures, paintings, concerts, conferences, ballets, etc.) make this district a real cultural hub in Bordeaux. The top it all off, enjoy a glass of Bordeaux wine on the roof top of the sumptuous hotel opposite the Opera.

Saint-Pierre:

Let's stay in the heart of the city and explore the Saint-Pierre district, home to the charming Place du Parlement, accessible by the famous shopping avenue of St-Catherine street. The neighboring streets are full of gastronomic nuggets, bustling day and night with friendly crowds. Nearby, discover the splendid Place de la Bourse, with its legendary Miroir d'eau. This is a real invitation to contemplate Bordeaux's emblematic architecture, enhanced by magnificent fountains and perfect lighting. Lose yourself in the shady streets, and discover the peaceful and pleasant atmosphere of the Camille Jullian square (don't miss its cinema housed in a former chapel), or St-Pierre square and its medieval church a stone's throw away!

Saint-Michel:

For a more bohemian Bordeaux experience, a visit to the Saint-Michel district is a must to do. With its majestic basilica, lively flea markets and charming square lined with restaurants, this district is bursting with character. Just a stone's throw away, the Capucins market will awaken your senses with its heady scents and popular atmosphere. History buffs will be delighted by the proximity of the Aquitaine museum, revealing the secrets of the city through the ages. We invite you to stroll along St-James street, with its many coffee shops and others, admiring the Gross cloche (large bell)... or soak up the unique atmosphere of the Victoire square, where young Bordeaux residents or students gather in the evenings.

Bacalan:

Finally, head off to discover the vibrancy and dynamism of the Bacalan district, an urban, historic and harbor oasis nestling on the edge of the city center. This part of the city offers majestic views over the Garonne, the Cité du Vin and the docks. The area combines industrial codes with bourgeois chic style magnificently. Immerse yourself in a new taste experience at Les Halles de Bacalan, where exquisite flavors are revealed in a vibrant, friendly atmosphere. Explore the surrounding area, from the prestigious Cité du Vin to the picturesque Virginie Heriot wharf, where barges are sometimes transformed into festive restaurants.

Whether for its rich cultural heritage, renowned gastronomic scene or picturesque urban landscapes, Bordeaux is a must-see destination for travelers in search of authentic experiences. As you explore these iconic places, you'll be able to discover the different districts of Bordeaux... essential walks before you decide on your property plans. Bordeaux awaits you!
